Unlock Enhanced Payout Benefits with Tipalti

Hey there instructors,
At Udemy, we are committed to enhancing your teaching experience, including continually improving our payment processes. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce Tipalti, a new provider for instructor payments.
What does Tipalti offer?
- An effortless setup process will allow you to transition smoothly and quickly directly through your Udemy platform dashboard with just a few clicks.
- Foreign exchange fees ranging from 1.9% to 3%, providing an alternative option for payments in local currencies.
For more information on Tipalti, including country availability, see our Help Center article.
To take advantage of this option for March payouts, make sure to complete setup by February 28, 2025.

Hello, I am a little confused about this. If I am based in US, and have been getting payouts from PayPal, I think PayPal has not been taking a fee, correct?
Does this not apply to US-based instructors? Or am I missing something?

In addition to that, I also would like to understand wheter is mandatory to switch from PayPal to Tipalti or is it optional. Therefore, what would happen if I chose to remain with PayPal. Thanks.

Maybe say something about current platforms being continued/discontinued?

Any news on allowing non-US instructors be paid directly via ACH if they provide a USD bank account? Several banks in the UK (and I'm sure other countries) offer USD accounts connected to the ACH payment network.

This would be great! @MirkoNasato
Since that gives us the possibility of saving in dollars and not in our local currency and get some interest or invest our money in $UDMY shares 😎

As far I understood, it is a new payout provider and currently existing providers will continue. It is not mandatory to join this new provider. Current providers to continue.

Hi @Prof_Luiz_Valerio, Setting up Tapilti as your payment processor is optional; you can compare its fees with your current processor to determine which is better.

I explored Tiplati setup in Payout section the charges confused me. It shows a fixed $3.5 fee and FX fees as % based on the payout amount.
So, both fixed charge and FX fees would apply for each transaction?I think they should provide an example of how much fees will be deducted from payout amount to make it clear. If anyone here knows about the Tiplati charges, please share.
Currently Paypal did not charge anything but Tiplati would charge some fees as per my understanding. Correct?

Tipalti is a terrible decision for Udemy to have made. At least for non-US instructors. Perhaps Udemy inc benefits from this (at our expense… what a surprise).
This is worse than Payonner: At least with Payoneer we can control the currency and timing of the withdrawal. Tipalti converts currencies with no options for delaying to get a better exchange rate. And their fees are basically just as high as those of Payoneer.
I have a USD bank account, Udemy pays out in USD… why can’t I get paid in USD?

I did this as soon as we had the email about it. Payoneer was a write off and completely useless support and never got going. Been using Tipalti with Skillshare for a while and it seems to work well. However, I've just had another email asking me to sign up. When I go to my account it says Tipalti is active! Not sure why?
