Important Update on Monthly Instructor Payouts

Hey there Instructors,

We have an important update to share with you regarding our monthly payout process, and we believe it will bring some positive changes to how we manage transactions.

Starting with payouts from September 1, 2025, we will be introducing a new minimum monthly payout threshold of $25 USD. Here’s what this means for you:

Payout Threshold: We will only process payments when the balance in your Instructor Payout account meets or exceeds $25 USD. If your balance is below this amount, we will initiate a payout until funds accumulate further. Once it reaches that amount you will receive a payout in the next upcoming monthly payout cycle.
Annual Payout in December: In December 2025, we will attempt to pay out all earnings, including those below the $25 threshold.

Why This Change?

Minimizing Transaction Fees: By setting a $25 threshold, we aim to reduce the transaction fees that can often diminish or wipe out smaller monthly payouts. This ensures a more efficient and cost-effective payment process for both you and Udemy.
Global Consistency: Transaction fees can vary based on your location and the payment methods available. Standardizing the threshold helps create a fair and consistent system that benefits instructors from all corners of the globe.

We will be updating our Instructor Terms to reflect this change, effective September 1, 2025. We encourage you to review the updated terms to stay informed.

You Stopped the usual discounted promotions.

You destroyed our sales.

And then you are using a payout threshold because of the damage you have done to our revenue report.

Honestly though, this particular policy makes sense. I'm just glad the threshold is $25. On YouTube, it's $100, which is pretty hard to hit. The guaranteed payout at the end of the year is also more friendly than what YouTube does. If your balance never meets the threshold, you'll never get it with them.

I am talking about the timing of this payout policy. After their change which stopped making regular discounts and sending notifications to students they realized that many instructors revenue are affected and damaged so they came up with this policy (minimum payout 25$) they didnot even mention what they mean by 1 Sept 2025 as this is so confusing because August 2025 is paid on 8 Sept 2025. So I gave them idea not to pay us at all and remove all these sadly fees they have.

I would like to know why my sales have dropped by 70%. The decline continues month after month, and Udemy remains silent on what’s causing it. My ratings and reviews are consistently high, and students are asking for more courses — but at this rate, with revenue and sales plummeting, there may be no income at all in the next few months. It feels like something is seriously wrong on Udemy’s end, and it’s affecting both instructors and the platform itself. Right now, creating new content just isn’t worth the effort.

I truly hope that a new platform emerges that operates the way Udemy once did — supporting instructors and making quality education accessible again.

Because there are no regular discounts and promotions as before and when you ask them why? they ignore you and say that they know what they do but we also know our sales well that have been dropped by 70% as you said.

Same boat…I have been on Udemy since 2020 and the sales are now worse then they have ever been…and I have 18 courses, half of them either bestsellers or highest rated…still… I run 2x month a sale…and my sales keep going down DRASTICALLY….. especially June and now July…they are down 50 procent…its is insane… I wrote email to Udemy and got…automated response basically not reading my email at all… I even sent them graph, I wrote specifically "please dont send me automated response saying I should look on data year by year, because I did and its 50procent down" …one of the first sentences in the response email "you need to look at the data year by year" ….. literally nothing I wrote in that email was adressed in the response… this was incredibly and I mean incredibly disheartening ….I made Udemy nice 6 figures over the years of their profit with my courses….and you can not even read my email….. … …

Is anyone else noticing this too? Udemy hasn’t offered any regular discounts for the past 10 days—they're only pushing subscription-based offers now. Earlier, there used to be regular discount offers every 2–3 days. Curious if others are seeing the same shift?

Yes and they destroyed the instructors' sales to serve personal or business subscriptions And instructors are the losers here they won't get from subscriptions as they get from sales because it depends on consumption not direct sales. Good Luck! :)
