So community especially working in AI will have tough competition now. Currently, the courses in AI niche was working well as compared to other but the inclusion of Google AI will give tough time to those as well. I do not know how community will react but this is my prespective

Congratulations and exciting news.

Anyone who thinks that they are competing with Google now… Google has had online courses for forever. In fact, there were official Google Analytics courses back in 2015.

Google was on Udacity and Google is on Coursera.

Google has their own learning website.

We've always been competing with Google. This doesn't increase the competition.

This is exciting! Being a tech instructor and in the AI space myself, I think this collaboration is great. This could bring in more learners to the platform that are eager to get a "certificate by google" and would eventually discover other instructors on the Udemy marketplace. This could build a pretty solid sales channel both for udemy and instructors alike.

Moreover I don't think this is ever going to increase the competition for us instructors. From what I have observed, these tech giants offer courses that are more general in nature rather than targeting a very specific niche. And just like Scott stated, these courses were already live on their own websites - now they are on Udemy too!

Very good move from Udemy. This will attract more companies to renew or sign new contracts with UfB!

This is similar to Udemy attracting some big personalities many years ago to create courses on the platform which brought a lot of trust for the rest of instructors.

@RyanJaress Do you know if Google courses are going to be offered for free or if they are going to be paid courses?
And if they are going to be paid, are they going to be in the same price points as our courses, above or below them?

Thanks for the update.

This is a smart move by Udemy. It is clear that Coursera has been more successful on the consumer side, as some learners are looking for certificates from known companies. This is just replicating a proven approach. And with the existing catalogue of courses, Udemy can now offer the best of both worlds.

I am unclear if this is a separate subscription and how it actually works from a revenue perspective. Is this available as part of the PP and UB?

It looks like it's a separate plan, costing more than the standard Udemy plan - but you can buy both together.

I see in the fine print that they're even offering a few free months of Google AI Pro. That's hard to beat :-(

Google content is offered through a subscription model ($49/month or $240/year).

This is a higher price point than Personal Plan ($35/month or $168/year).

There is also an option to bundle both of them together.

As institutional content begins to move more fluidly across platforms — Udemy and Coursera —

It naturally raises the question of whether independent expert-led courses might also have a place in Coursera —

perhaps in a curated, experimental format — within that broader ecosystem.

Not to replace institutional pathways, but to complement them with applied, experience-driven insight.

This would also be an interesting dimension to explore.😉

Is there a possibility that a learner searching for an AI course might also discover and enroll in courses on other topics? Or is this collaboration with Google exclusively limited to AI-related courses?

Just thinking - is this a major milestone in setting tiers, where our content will target the mass/economy segment, while institutional/academic players will target a premium segment? Is this the roadmap for the Coursera+Udemy merger?

Maybe I'm totally wrong with my assumptions…but just trying to understand my place for the upcoming period.

As a consumer of Google courses on the Coursera platform, I have always found their courses great in content but poor in delivery. Therefore as an Instructor I see this more like an opportunity rather than a threat. Smart move by Udemy to get the “anchor tenant” which should increase the footfall.
