Teaching eye diseases

Hi everyone,

I am new here. I am professor of ophthalmology (Eye specialist) from pakistan. I have more than 16 years of experience of teaching to MBBS students the subject of Eye. And I have 5 years experience of online teaching with zoom, Google meet, Skype etc.

I have created a course for MBBS, FRCS and FCPS students. So that I can teach them and earn some passive money.

I feel, perhaps my course is very unique and students will be far less.

Please guide me how to get a start please.

Kind regards

  • Hi,

I have submitted my first course for review. It contains the name, sub-title, learning objectives, description etc.

Pl answer to the following 2 questions, as I am totally new here.

    1. I can see my course is live. Where can I find the url of my course from?

    2. I have not yet uploaded any content, like video lectures, assignments etc. My understanding is that after the review, I will make the outline if my course and upload the lectures during teaching. Am I correct?. Or I have to upload all the teaching content first and then I should have submitted for review.

    Kind regards

    Hi @Prof.Dr.Sha550
    thank you for asking!

I was able to see your course is live already because you created a practice test course, the practice courses do not require review before publishing them.

If you want to create a course with video content, you need to start a new one by choosing the option "Course" instead of "Practice Test" I recommend you to watch the official and free Udemy courses, which will help you with getting started on your course creation.

About the URL of your course, you can go to the "Promotions" tab and you will find the referral link there.

Let us know if you have additional questions

    Best regards,

  • I am thankful the helping community, first of all.

Thanks for the answers & links.

Please review my course MBBS eye learning. Is it a practice test?

Secondly, if yes, then when Iwill create a bew test, which may include videos, interactive video lectures with screen sharing or assignment etc. Will I have to upload the whole course before review or I can start with one or 2 video lectures and with time I may add more things. I feel the later option more easy feasible for me to get started.

    Kind regards

it's best practice to not submit a course for review and approval to go live until you have created all of the content for it (course curriculum, video lectures, assignments, quizzes, practice tests, etc.). You can find the link to your course in your instructor profile. I encourage you to review all the links and resources @Bessy
    previously provided.

    Here's your course:

    @Bessy
I am actually surprised this course was approved by the quality review team with two practice tests that have 1 question per test, and no other content yet. Looks like an oversight.

    @Prof.Dr.Sha550
I would encourage you to consider unpublishing your course until you finish creating it because if a student purchases it based on your sales page details (6 video lectures, 10+ assignments, MCQs, SAQs, Q&A sessions, etc.), and finds out none of that is actually there, they'll most likely leave a scathing 1-star review, tanking your course before it's actually finished.

  • Additions ly, I tried to edit my practice course, but I could only fine the hearing objective page. When I click on blue titles & subtitles, I can't land on the page. I want to edit the name of the course. But after clicking, a page of guidelines about how to edit is opened. Where to edit? I could not find.

    Regards

  • That was not clear to me. I thought I would record videos as the course goes on. I have mentioned in description. But if this option is not available, and I have to make all the video lectures, ppt etc first completely, then it's OK. I abide by the policy. I am just going to unpublished it right now.

    Thanjs for guidance

  • Aa I told I was thinking I will be uploading all the stuff during the course. But now I am clear that first I have to upload all the stuff & then submit for review. And if approved, only then I should publish it.

So as advised, I abide by the policies. I am just going to unpublished the course.

Sorry for my ignorance & thanks for your kind guidance.

    Regards

    Shahzad

you're welcome. I'm surprised the quality review team didn't give you this feedback to add your lecture videos when you previously submitted the course. Best of luck with your course.

  • I have proliferative diabetic retinopathy and Sjorgen's Syndrome so I have an interest in this area bit I have to say if you are aiming specificat Physicians your audience is likely to be limited.

  • Since you already have experience in conducting training via videoconference, I simply recommend that you start creating the course agenda and then recording individual lessons. Create a shorter course first, then expand it. Good luck

  • Thanks for your guidance. May the almighty bless you with cure from proliferative diabetic eye disease. I hope you got the Intravitreal injections & or argon laser. If you need any help (free of cost) about your disease, please call me on Skype. My Skype I'd is drshahzadwaseem. I will be more than happy to talk to you. • Thanks for taking time to write. And thanks for your guidance m

I feel the teaching model of udemy might not be good for me. I used to teach online on zoom and Skype live with interactive video lectures. In this way, I feel, I can address the problems and questions in real time there & then.
