Video settings and codecs

Dear all,

I am editing videos for the first time in my life and slowly learning many new things about it.

I am now encountering a problem: video sizes and exporting/uploading time.

The question for you: which compromise quality/size is fine for Udemy courses?

I know that the higher quality the best in general, but I find myself looking at several GB for one hour of course, and exporting videos after editing is painfully long.

Are there standards for codecs or compression settings that for Udemy are fine and give relief on the size side? How have you solved this problem for your courses?

Thank you in advance for the answers!

I both record and upload in 1080p.

As to size: the research says that lectures are most effective when they are no more than 5 minutes. If you keep you lectures around that length, you shouldn't have a quality or size problem.
