Hi, I am planning to teach how to play pop music, and need to use existing pop music as examples to teach the techniques, does the course require any kind of copyright ?

It is a very grey area in terms of fair-usage vs licensing. Because you are focusing on recreating the music and are likely to play samples, plus the fact you will be making money on the sale of the courses. I would say that you need to license tracks before using them. Essentially, if you dont already own it, then you need to pay 'someone' to use it. Heres an interesting article.. http://www.copyright.com/blog/music-licensing-fair-use/
