    I began by using iMovie (it's free on Macs). I found it had more than enough features/etc. to let me build courses. Eventually I reached a point where I needed more power/features, so I went with Davinci (also free). It's a LOT more complex, but gets the job done.

    I really like Power Director by Cyberlink. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it's professional level video editing and you are only limited to your imagination and skill level. I think it's about $60 a year.
