Sound proofing is one option, but it also certainly depends on the type (not brand) of microphone you are using. Your enemy would be a condenser mic since it is designed to pick up a bit of ambient sound. But dynamic mics are designed to mostly pick up what is really spoken into them. You have to place them very close to your mouth though.

I agree with @SharonRamel. I teach what I know. With 25 years in IT as an actual engineer, I have no shortage of topics that I can teach. Since I know my market intimately (because I was part of it for so long), I don't even need to look at Marketplace Insights in most cases to know what people are looking for.

I have begun to create my first course on Udemy and researched other similar themes that were already published to gauge the interest level and relevance. I noticed when watching the free previews that they were usually American and therefore not only was the process unlike that I was going to cover, the terminology was drastically different. I therefore decided to put a comment into my prerequisites / requirements section to make it clear who the course is for and who is not for, and then I will include this verbally in the introdution video.

@EduEngTeam I never record from a script. Lack of originality/spontinaity... I have many reasons. I love working from PowerPoint slides. Instead of writing a script, use PowerPoint slide bullets as talking points and adlib. You'll achieve much more engaging delivery. Drive your PowerPoint bullet points down to the level of detail you require to recall your talking points. The downside to PowerPoint slides is that they take time to create. Still, they're my preferred method to record (even to the extent of embedding screen snapshots into PowerPoint slides to streamline my presentation. Hope this helps, ---Brian
