I noticed there are countless courses on digital marketing and UI/UX design. But I've only found one course related specifically to marketing FOR designers on uDemy, which doesn't have great reviews but has over 1,000 students.
I've been doing a lot of digging and research and I've noticed there's barely any information or courses on how designers (be it UI/UX or graphic designers) can market themselves.
I've specialised in multiple industries for the past 15+ years – having gone through UI/UX design, CRO, marketing/advertising, performance marketing and direct response, copywriting, management, leadership, business communication, and negotiation, freelancing, agencies and countless entrepreneurial activities – and I believe there's demand for a more narrowly targeted marketing course tailored for designers.
I'm thinking something along these lines, off the top of my head, as a course providing value to designers looking to better market themselves, land tons of customers that happily pay you (on time, and with zero issues or complaints), cold outreach, lead generation, specialising your designs within a specific industry or niche etc.
– Crafting a compelling landing page (portfolio) that isn't what 99% of designers seem to do: "Hi, I'm John and I'm a very passionate UI/UX designer with X years of experience...here's my portfolio"
– How a designer can approach clients and pull in leads
– Advanced and expert-level copywriting and marketing concepts with examples – crafting killer headlines, bullet points, even writing powerful emails that pull in clients.
– Learning to better communicate your own value as a designer to a potential client – addressing pain points, THEIR business, THEIR needs, and educating clients.
– Advice for designers currently having a job at an agency looking to start freelancing and don't know where to start, becoming digital nomads, OR starting their agency or even being able to better "sell" themselves at their current agency and grow their career.
- Crafting killer direct-response campaigns so you can get leads and book calls with potential design clients
Do you think I'm on the right track? Do you believe I'd be able to grab decent organic reach if I were to create a course on uDemy? The Market Insights tool only seems to pull results for singular phrases e.g. either digital marketing or marketing strategy or User interface design, so I'm unable to find more specific data.
More research is pending of course, but wanted to hear your thoughts!
