Udemy for Business - Do you get a notification when your course is used?

Go to solution

Hi Udemy,

I have a question concerning the exclusitivity of courses on Udemy for Business.

Do instructors receive a notification when their course is being used by Udemy for Business?

The reason I ask -> is it allowed to have your course on other platforms as long as the course is not used by UfB and then unpublish it from the other platform when you get a notification? How do instructors handle this exclusitivity?

Thanks!

Hans

Hi @HansPlcGuy Yes, instructors get an email notification when a course is added to the UFB collection. For this 2nd question, your course is still eligible to be included in Udemy for Business, but we’re less likely to include it since we can’t market it as unique to Udemy for Business. Once it’s in the Udemy for Business content collection, you won’t be able to begin to offer it on other platforms. To illustrate with a few examples:

    • You publish Course A on Udemy, and also on another platform, Platform X. After a month, Udemy for Business identifies a need for your topic. Although Course A qualifies for Udemy for Business and would meet that need, we may choose Course B (another qualified course on the same topic that’s only our platform) because its instructor has kept it exclusive to Udemy.
    • You publish Course A on Udemy, and also on another platform, Platform X. After a month, Udemy for Business identifies a need for your topic. Course A is the only qualified course on that topic on Udemy. Udemy for Business weighs the need for that topic against the downside of nonexclusive content and decides to add Course A. Moving forward, you host Course A on Udemy and Platform X, but not on any additional platforms.

There are no benefits to the instructor for remaining exclusive to Udemy, outside of “maybe” being included in UfB if it’s a fit for their library.
