Using Powerpoint and Screencastomatic

This will be my first course.  I just got the screencastomatic free download.  I have been working on my presentation through PowerPoint.  When I finish, do I play the PowerPoint slide show while screencast records it?  Will it record the audio or do I have to record the audio on screencastomatic?  

Thank you so much.  This is so much harder than I thought but I really am excited to do this.
