Re: Leadership Update: A New Chapter
I have been trying all day (and failing) to come up with an appropriate public response to this.
Genefa, I wish you all the best in your new adventure. It's good when good things happen to good people. So from that personal perspective, I hope this new job is all that you dream it is and more. And they're lucky to have you.
From my perspective as a Udemy instructor, and someone who always wants to see Udemy succeed… I hope the five people they will have to hire to replace you are up to the task!

Congratulations on quitting Udemy. I am sure that was a wise decision for you. In any field of creative product development, many will not succeed and should move on to use their talents in other ways. - Generalizing your experience, or mine, to the majority of instructors is most often a mistake. A fair number of us have continued to make a good living on Udemy. So for us it has not been a waste of time.
- No company has figured out how to make this a profitable and stable business. It is still an early stage business and frequent experimentation, and failed experiments, are inevitable., The important thing is that they keep trying to discover new ways to make this successful.
- I would not accuse anyone of "lying." Expecting a result, trying for a result, that then disappoints, is not a lie. It is part of the normal business process.
