Re: Big News! Udemy + Coursera Combination Announcement
Hugo Sarrazin's announcement email clearly stated the following:
"we have agreed to combine with Coursera to create a leading technology platform"
There it is. If you're not tech you're out. And if you're not sure look at your revenue graph over the last 12 months. If you have seen a steady decline in your revenue then this is likely the last station for your Udemy journey. They'll make up the content shortfall through the merger. They've been setting this in place for some time now and we're just the last to know.
Re: Big News! Udemy + Coursera Combination Announcement
The email from the CEO announcing this clearly states that the merger will create "a leading technology platform", so I think the answer is there, and that steady divestment many instructors have been noticing in the last 12 months reinforce this position.

Re: Big News! Udemy + Coursera Combination Announcement
Coursera's business model is different from Udemy's, therefore, instructors' earnings will decrease, I'm sure of it... We'll have to see what happens later, but in my opinion, this doesn't look good for the instructors at all!

More isn't always better. Especially for UB and Personal Subscription minutes.
Now, our courses will be competing with thousands more and the earnings will be diluted!

Re: Big News! Udemy + Coursera Combination Announcement
This is a surprising and exciting announcement, but also, of course an uncertain one. Thank you for the FAQs @ZaneVella. Reaching Coursera's user base is a huge potential opportunity for all of us.

Yes, I also think that a course cleanup wouldn't hurt, but it's a subjective matter that should be handled carefully.
A course with few students might be very good, but the topic might not be very popular, for example, non-technical courses.
And we could point out similar issues.
