*Coffee Chat Invite* Let’s talk about SEO on February 23rd!

Hello Instructors!

It’s now February and this month’s theme is SEO!! We’d love for you to stop by our coffee chat and network with fellow instructors while sharing your experience with SEO.

What is a virtual coffee chat?

The community virtual coffee chats are hour-long informal networking sessions held via Zoom. During these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to network with and get to know other Udemy instructors worldwide.

How does it work?

February’s theme is SEO, so for the first 30 minutes, we will discuss various questions and Search Engine Optimization. Then we will open the floor for some questions you may have for other instructors regarding SEO as an instructor.

How do I sign up?

Glad you asked! You can sign up for the coffee chat here!

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, February 23rd at 11:00am PT (Pacific Standard Time, US)!

*We understand that this time may not be ideal for all time zones, however, we will change the times of the coffee chat each month to accommodate different locations.

It would be nice instead of using "PT" initials for time it actually said "Pacific Time, US". That prevent those of us not living in the US guessing what the initials were.

  • Yeah, seems to be very exciting..!!!

  • Exited...!

    Hi @EmpoweredAnalysts
    ,

We're glad you like it! We won't be sharing a recording of the coffee chat, as we want to provide instructors with a safe space to share their experiences and opinions. However, we will share a recap of the discussions and key takeaways later on in the community .

    Stay tuned!

  • Thanks @MarinaT
I can make the first part so will join and drop off after that. Sounds like a great session

This would be amazing . Yes, you can absolutely join and drop out at any time .

    See you there!

  • Thanks for organizing this, just saw it and registered.

  • Hi, in case you are taking questions, here is what I wonder:

    1. Section titles have a description section, with the prompt "What will students be able to do at the end of this section?". You can enter up to 200 characters. My understanding is that course sections and these descriptions are not accessible to Google, since Google has not signed up for the course and cannot access them, and so not really useful for SEO. Is this correct?

    2. Individual lectures also have a "Lecture Description", and there you can enter several paragraphs of text. Same question, are these accessible by Google and useful for SEO?

    3. If these are not used by Google, are they just for students when browsing, or are they used by Udemy to help target their advertising?

    4. If either of these are useful, for Google or Udemy algorithms, what is the best format for the content, e.g. keyword phrases separated by commas, natural text description, ... ?

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hi @WilliamStewart
    ,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I just stumbled upon your message recently.

Our monthly coffee chat is primarily a space for instructors to connect and share their expertise, so we don't typically address questions during these sessions.

However, we had a post here about SEO and course descriptions where I shared insights from our internal team in August last year.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.
