Hi Instructors,

We’re delighted to introduce you to a new feature, Review Insights, now live on your instructor dashboard! Designed to allow you to analyze your reviews faster and more efficiently, this feature employs AI and ML technologies to analyze your course reviews and identify the top recurring themes.

With Review Insights, you'll be empowered to understand your learners' feedback at a glance, enabling you to make meaningful updates to your courses, address potential concerns highlighted in low rated reviews, and even discover inspiration for your next successful course.

Review Insights offers you the flexibility to filter reviews by those rated 4 stars and above, or 3.5 stars and below. This makes it easier than ever to focus on positively rated feedback and creative ideas while proactively addressing areas needing improvement. We believe this not only helps in enhancing your course offerings but also in elevating the learning experience on our platform.

We can’t wait to see how Review Insights helps you grow and impact more learners. If you are curious about Review Insights, check out this article. As always, your feedback is invaluable to us, so please feel free to share your thoughts!

Teach on,

Ryan

It's certainly interesting. But there are two problems:

    a. the reviews may be several years old and the criticisms (for example) in some cases may not apply

    b. reviews that have been deleted as they went against Udemy policy, are still included

    Nonetheless it is interesting.

Question: are we allowed to include the summary in the Course Description? And if so do we call it 'Summary of positive reviews' or something similar?

    Thank you

  • Hi team, this is a very good example of leveraging generative ai in a way that can be helpful to instructors. I have tens of thousands of reviews, sometimes in a single course, and this will definitely help to analyze the situation in a much better way.

    Thanks!

I ran into the same issue as @ChrisBankes120.

I had several negative reviews that were removed by Udemy Trust & Safety show up in this new tool. Older reviews (5+ years old) also shouldn't be included, especially if a course has gone through significant updates, since they're no longer relevant.

This tool shows promise, but needs some fixing and fine tuning.

    Hi @ChrisBankes120,

Thank you so much for your feedback—we’re glad to hear you find this tool interesting!

We're continuously working to improve our tools, and we’ll be sure to share your input with our internal team, especially your point about older reviews and those removed due to policy violations still being included.

Question: are we allowed to include the summary in the Course Description? And if so do we call it 'Summary of positive reviews' or something similar?

I double-checked with the Policy Team, and yes—you’re allowed to include this on your course landing page. Here are some general guidelines for using student reviews in your marketing. If you have any further questions, I recommend reaching out to policy@udemy.com.

    Hi @AHardin,

Thank you so much for your feedback! I’ll make sure it’s shared with the internal team so they can take a closer look at how the tool is handling older reviews and those removed due to policy violations.

If there’s anything else you’d like to see or suggest, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

  • I've just realised you can make the summaries last 3,6,9 mths etc so 'old' is not a problem. So that's good!

  • Great, thank you

  • cool feature using AI and ML. Will use it to promote my course.
