Lecture Description and SEO

Hello,

I’m adding lecture descriptions for SEO purposes, but when previewing the course as a student, the descriptions are not visible. Do the descriptions actually improve SEO and perhaps after publishing the course students will see the lecture description?

As an aside, an ad played during the student preview since the course is still free. I almost went deaf while using earphones it was so loud.

The last we heard, lecture descriptions are not shown at all to search engines in order to improve page speed metrics. So they basically aren't used for anything.

They used to be be visible in the course landing page for students who are not yet enrolled in your course, but only if they click through to individual lectures in the curriculum. Enrolled students don't see them at all. I'm not sure if that's still the case.

If you're talking about SEO within Udemy, you're probably better off focusing on the quality of your transcripts and the information on your course landing page.
