How do you balance the different Udemy tools in your course?

Udemy offers a variety of tools to help you make your courses more engaging and effective, from quizzes and coding exercises to Role Plays and assignments. Each tool has its strengths, but figuring out how to balance them in your course can be a challenge.

I use Role play the most, however it is not clear if students use it and I received an email that I might get paid for minutes watched for role play but then was told I will not be paid because I am not on UFB so I lost motivation to use it in my newest courses. Coding exercises and quizzes are difficult to use so I just create my own video exercises followed by a video solution. The main tool I use is uploading videos and I use the Q&A a lot and educational announcements.

As a rough guide, a 10 minute lecture on Art Therapy will lead to:

10 minutes watching (paid)

20 minutes student work away from screen including reading article/watching youtube full video (clip in lecture)

5 minutes posting in Q/A

Quite possibly 10 minutes discussing

Another 30 minutes or more looking at other posts

A ten minute lecture on Counselling will lead to:

10 minutes watch time (paid)

20 minutes responding to case study attached

20 minutes or more discussing

20 minutes or more checking other posts in Q/A
