Hey there instructors!

It's great to be back, and we hope that you had a happy and relaxing holiday and new year. As we get back into the community, we felt that it was only appropriate to have a new theme to kick off 2026 - Goal Setting!

Whether you're brand new to being an instructor or a seasoned veteran in the industry, we will have various posts for you! Our goal for this month is to share some insightful questions to get you in the groove of your future planning to succeed in whatever you're looking to accomplish.

With that being said, we have a question for you today!

What is one goal you'd like to achieve as an online instructor in 2026?

Hello Ryan,

For us, instructor success on Udemy has always been the result of a combination of several key factors: strong and relevant course content created by instructors, solid support from Udemy Business, meaningful promotion from Udemy, and—most importantly—a clear and consistent business direction.

Unfortunately, over time, many of these supporting elements have become less visible and less prioritized, particularly in our case. As a result, it has become increasingly difficult to plan, invest, and grow with confidence as an instructor on the platform.

Therefore, our primary goal for 2026 is clarity.

We want to better understand Udemy’s forward-looking strategy and its fundamental commitment to instructors—especially in areas such as the future of Udemy Business, promotional support, and other forms of sustainable, long-term enablement. With clearer direction and stronger foundational support, we believe instructors can realign their goals, regain momentum, and continue contributing high-quality content that benefits the entire ecosystem.

Clarity, alignment, and renewed support are what we see as the foundation for success in 2026.

My goal for 2026 is to release more courses, build my own list, stablize my income streams, and explore some new hobbies. I already have my next course planned out, and my scripts nearly finished, then its onto slides, then finally talking heads. My goal is to release by the end of January. Wish me luck ;-)

My goal is to update all of my existing courses and possibly publish 1-2 new courses throughout 2026. I feel like I created too many courses last year and need to rest and also I would like to see how things look with the Coursera/Udemy merger before committing to more courses.

As an instructor on Udemy with 25 published courses, my journey has taught me that sustainable success on this platform comes from a balance of quality content, clarity of direction, and long-term enablement.

My goals for 2026 are centered around consolidation, quality, and strategic growth rather than sheer volume:

Strengthen and refresh my existing courses to ensure they remain relevant, practical, and aligned with evolving learner and industry needs.

Publish a limited number of high-impact new courses, only where there is clear learner demand and strategic fit.

Focus on depth over speed, improving learner experience, structure, and outcomes across my portfolio.

Build greater stability and predictability in income streams, while gradually strengthening my presence beyond the platform.

Most importantly, seek greater clarity and alignment with Udemy’s long-term direction, particularly around Udemy Business, instructor support, and sustainable growth opportunities.

With clearer visibility into the platform’s strategy and continued collaboration between Udemy and instructors, I believe 2026 can be a year of renewed momentum, for instructors and learners alike.

Ridiculous question. We (and you) absolutely don´t know how it will continue after the acquisition. The Udemy brand won´t exist anymore. So how on earth can we make goals if we know nothing about business conditions in 6 months from now. My goal is to diversify my business activities away from Udemy/Coursera. That´s the only reasonable goal for 2026.

My goal is to update my existing courses and also to create 6 new courses for this year. I also would love to be part of Instructor Partner program this year. Hoping for a fantastic upcoming year with Udemy and wishing all the instructors the same!
