Just published, advice please

Good afternoon!

After having wanted to publish a course on Udemy since August last year, I'm really pleased that I've finalised all my content over the last week (having had some space to do so).

Was slightly sighing when it then said it takes 2-3 to be published, as I have friends who were keen to help me review and build on the momentum!!

But that's part of my question anyway. What are your tips for success once published?

A side question is, can you replicate your course AND add content? So this course is a baseline, and I want to then do one that is specific to the workplace, so it will have additional content. So I would upload all the content from the 'core' course, and add more content to tailor. Or do you have like course combos?

Congratulations on finishing and posting your first course! I have just posted my third course so here is my advice:

My latest course is about two hours long. I feel that this length gives the student enough content to be satisfied that they got enough value for their money. At the other end they want to have a sense of accomplishment in completing the course within a reasonable amount of time. Break the course down into sections and then break the sections down into lessons. Try to keep the lessons under ten minutes long. This again accommodates people’s attention span and gives them a sense of accomplishment in finishing each lesson. There are probably only a few people that will take your entire course at one sitting. As to the issue of updating your course. This is not a problem. You can just reload updated files as you have new ideas and get feedback from students. Just load them on top of the first files you posted. Breaking your course down into smaller lessons will also help you make these updates.

It can take up to two business days for your course to be published by our Quality Review Team. The exact timing depends on whether any fixes are needed on your end and how many courses are currently in the review queue. Unfortunately, as the Community team, we don’t have visibility into this process.

In the meantime, I recommend keeping an eye on your email in case the team reaches out with feedback or required changes. If you haven’t heard back after two business days, it’s best to contact our Instructor Support team to learn more about your course status.

Ah, I see. The reason is that you haven’t published a course yet, and the marketing posts are located in the Published Instructor Club. You’ll automatically gain access to this section of our community once your first course goes live.
