Adding slides to our videos

Question

We're ready to record the lectures for our first course, and we've prepped the slides we want to insert.  We typically use Veed to record our videos.  But we can't find anything on that website, or this one, that explains how to combine the slides with our 'to camera' video.

Please can someone explain how to do this?

Hi @Russell_Olivia, Thanks for your question. We are happy to have you in the course creation process. The good news is you don’t need complex editing software to layer your slides over your video. Instead, you will create a Mashup Lecture, which allows your students to see your video and PDF slides.

You can still use Veed to record your videos. Once you have the videos ready, you will use the mashup lecture option and follow these simple steps:

1. Navigate to the Curriculum page in your course management tools.

2. On the side, hover your cursor over the grey space within a section, where you want the mashup lecture to be placed. Click the + icon that appears.

3. Select Lecture, enter a title and click Add Lecture.

4. Next, click the +Content button that appears on the lecture item.

5. Select Mashup.

I don't use Veed.  I use Camtasia.  Hopefully, this translates.

To record slides, I simply play the slide on the screen while talking over it and recording the screen.

To merge webcam video, I simply turn on recording of my webcam while recording my screen, which may contain slides.

To merge camera recording, I record the footage and import it into Camtasia to merge with screencasts and slides.

Am I anywhere close to answering your questions? ;-)
