Advice on my first course creation

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on creating my first online course, and while I have already created my sessions and lecture themes, I am starting to feel a little confused about how to structure everything properly.

I would really appreciate some guidance on a few things:

* I have three introductory slides:* Introduction
* Know Your Trainer
* What This Course Is About

I am not sure where exactly these should be added in the curriculum section. Should they be separate lectures under the first module/section, or placed somewhere else?

* Each lecture has a “Description” section. What is usually expected there?* Only short bullet points about the lecture content?
* A brief summary?
* Or the full lecture/script content?

* For the course landing page, what should the banner/image ideally contain to look professional and attractive?* Can the banner image be created using ChatGPT/AI tools?
* Are AI-generated images accepted on the platform?

I have many more questions, but these are the main ones I need help with initially.

Any advice, suggestions, or best practices from experienced instructors would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @RioKalpana It's great to see you are working on your first course! Keep it up, you are almost there. To be approved for the Udemy marketplace, courses must include at least 5 lectures and at least 30 minutes of video content.

For the lecture descriptions, these are mainly intended to help prospective students understand what each lecture covers before enrolling. Once a student enrolls, the description is no longer shown in the course player.

So think of them as preview text rather than full scripts. A summary or short bullet points describing what the lecture covers works best will help prospective students understand the value of each lecture and decide whether to enroll.

As for the course image, Udemy has specific quality standards documented in the support articles Upload a Course Image and Course Image: Quality Standards. These outline the requirements for a course image. If you are unsure, please send an email with the course image you have to our Trust & Safety team at policy@udemy.com.
