Introducing Featured Questions

Hi everyone,

We're excited to upgrade your course Q&A with a new tool — Featured Questions.

This tool lets you pin question and answer pairs at the top of your course Q&A to cut down on repetitive questions and get students the answers they need.

You can select existing student questions, or write your own Featured Questions.

You can find Featured Questions in the Communication section of your instructor dashboard. We're releasing this feature to instructors only for the next few weeks to give you a chance to populate your Featured Questions. When it's live for students, we'll update you here.

To help make the most of the head start, we've created some tips on Featured Questions. Take a look!

I like it, I hope we can add a similar functionality like support.udemy.com, where students have to search before being able to post questions.

Sounds great, but one of the suggestions is to create your own question.  How do you do that?

Hi @KarenS1969 To write a question and answer for the Featured Questions section, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the Communications page in your instructor account and select Featured Questions.
  2. Click Create new Featured Question on the right-hand side.
  3. Enter the applicable course information, as well as the question and answer.
  4. Click Publish new Featured Question and confirm you wish to publish the question.

You can also check this article here for more information.

This is a good feature, but 'Select Lecture' requires us to recall specific lecture names.

This should be bypassable, or it should scavenge lecture titles matching the first 3 inputted characters.

I was about to commit to around 10 questions and answers tonight, but it's going to take a lot more time than I had allocated, since we need to cross reference and be needlessly specific.

@DanielEvans, It does suggest lesson names for me as I type (on Firefox).

Hi @DanielEvans Yes, it works in Google Chrome too as you start typing you will see lesson suggestions. If this doesn't work for you, you will have to reach out to instructorsupport@udemy.com

Great - given the majority of questions to me are about problems with Udemy I shall put in how to contact Udemy for technical support.

Instructor support should have it's own forum! It seems foolish to be sending emails when the issues can be addressed here. @Abbie

Hi @Jack_Bosma, thanks for your suggestion.

We’re happy to address general questions about policy or site functionality in the Community. That being said, anything that is specific to a user (a funny behavior you’re seeing onsite or a question about how a policy applies to your particular situation) gets routed to more private channels so we can get the details we need to investigate or answer without exposing private information.

In general, our Support agents have more tools to investigate user-specific issues than our Community team, who know what’s going on on the platform in general but can’t look into anything specific to a given account.

@ElianaC  I am recommending the creation of Support and Policy forums as an expedited service for instructors. The decision to respond privately rests with the respective teams. If an email is required, simply have the respective team initiate it. Our goal is to streamline communication and teamwork. Emails should be initiated as a last resort. That's the purpose of these forums.

I couldn't find my course in Mongolian language filter section. Could you explain why?

Hi @Murun , if you just published your course, it may take 24 hours to show up in the search. Try checking tomorrow or after a few hours. If you do not see your course show up when filtering it with the language, please reach out to instructorsupport@udemy.com.

This is a great feature, but what I would really like is a universal featured question that would appear on every lecture. It is to remind the students to quote the timestamp on the video that they are referring to.

Is there a way to set a universal featured question? It is too much of a hassle to do that for every lecture.

Hi @Keith , thank you for sharing your feedback about this. I've shared it with the team!
