Re: Big News! Udemy + Coursera Combination Announcement
The present confusion, shock and lack of clarity about future is going to impact the motivation of Instructors to invest time, energy and resources on creating new courses or to update existing courses. This definitely looks like a six months notice for most of the instructors who are not among the top.
I am sure that if Udemy's model was so successful then other new or existing platforms will soon start to offer even better deals to instructors to attract them. Yes, they will lack the market reach and depth. If AI is the catalyst then few innovative platforms will launch with a business model integrating the strengths of human instructors and technology. This is how Udemy became so successful in the past.
I find no sense in integrating two completely different business models with complete different philosophy, beliefs, ecosystem and even customers. This is just the way to survive (I think) in technology disruption, to capture the market share, creating the best earning scenario for shareholders and to remove the competition. This will also to compel the learners to accept the only existing option available in the market, wheather they like it or not.
This is the only logical explanation to this decision. This is the tough time for teaching and training industry, especially for those not among the top and when AI can create better courses in minutes and provide top-notch support at the click of a button.

On the other hand, the last question in the FAQ (Will my status as an instructor on Udemy’s platform carry over to the combined platform?) seems a bit ambiguous.
I noticed that ambiguity as well.

1000%. I used to look forward to black friday as my BIGGEST month of any given year. This year it was the LOWEST amount I've made in ANY month on Udemy in the past 9 years despite me having MORE courses than any year in my history. Udemy has KILLED my ability to earn a fair i
