New Month - New Theme: Course Quality

Hi instructors,

This month, we’re exploring one of the most important topics: Course Quality!

The quality of your course plays a crucial role in its success on Udemy, directly impacting student engagement, satisfaction, and reviews.

To kick things off, here’s a question for you:
How do you decide when to make course adjustments based on student feedback?

While student feedback can provide valuable insights for improvement, it’s important to prioritize and distinguish between what’s truly necessary and what may not require (immediate) action.

We’d love to hear your approach—share your thoughts below!

    Hi Marina,

    Thanks for the question.

I always appreciate and respect student feedback and try to make updates when possible. I decide based on a few things, if the suggestion fits well with the course, I’m more likely to add it and especially if I think it is a cool and interesting idea. If it’s a big topic that belongs in a separate course or isn’t very important, I may relegate it to a separate course or skip it. My time and the course length also matter. If I'm too busy then I might not have the time to make an update. Finally, if a course is already long, I think carefully before adding more.

    Happy Course Creation!

I focus on the positive comments. I adjust the course for those. I would rather appeal to and answer those who have made a positive comment. If the like it, I’ll add more.

  • Course ratings significantly impact a course's visibility on the platform. Student feedback offers valuable insights and actionable steps for instructors to improve their content. Beyond ratings, six other course attributes provide additional guidance, helping instructors focus their efforts on areas that matter most.

  • Hello Marina,

Every year, in addition to creating a new Course, I make a ring of updates to all my (so far) 22 Courses, adding Classes requested by Students and even evaluating some reviews with True constructive criticism…

In addition to this, always at the end and publication of each new Course, I log in with a Student account and take my own Course from beginning to end, to make sure to maintain the levels of enthusiasm for the Student, which I printed at the moment of creating it like Instructor,

A hug to all this lovely Community of RESTLESS MINDS,

    Have a good LIFE!

    Hi Marina,

I always take student feedback positively, even if it is negative. These feedbacks helped me to improve my courses further. It also helps to improve the course quality beyond the course content and subject matters, such as video and audio quality, editing and animations, etc. So student feedback is vital for me to improve my courses.

    Thank you.
