I'm in the process of creating my first Udemy course and would love to hear from experienced instructors. What were the biggest challenges you faced when designing your first e-zpassmd course, and how did you overcome them? Any tips on structuring content, engaging students, or optimizing video quality would be greatly appreciated!

Editing was a nightmare. I could have had shorter videos. The audio was not great. I was zooming in too much and had to reedit.

    Hi Rose,

My biggest challenge was finding the best recording and editing methods. I tried recording sound and vision on separate devices and then synchronizing them. Total disaster. What I do now, is record using my webcam for talking heads video with built-in mic.

When recording just the screen, I use my built-in mic. The quality is pretty good.

I know instructors buy and use separate Mics and cameras which is also OK.

I know some built-in mics and cameras are not that great so that will depend on which laptop you are using.

My recording and editing software is all by NCH. Wavepad for sound editing, Debut Video Capture for video recording, PhotoPad for image editing, Videopad for Video editing. These are all very user-friendly and inexpensive. You can try them for free.

When you are recording there are lots of things beyond your control. Barking dogs at crucial moments, noisy motorbikes. Thunder and lightning. Lots of things can ruin a recording. Be prepared for more than one take. Patience is the key.

My first course went back and forth about three times before I got it right. Now, they go through the first time mostly so I guess I must be doing something right.

    I wish you luck.
