Teaching Amid War: Empowering Gaza Students through PMP & Agile

Hello everyone,

My name is Ahmed Abu Abdu, and I’m an instructor from Gaza, Palestine. I work as the Director of Health and Environment at Gaza Municipality, and I have over 10 years of experience in humanitarian and development projects.

Despite the devastating war, infrastructure collapse, and ongoing displacement, I managed to design and launch two online courses:

PMP® – Project Management Professional
Agile, Scrum, and Kanban

What makes these courses unique is that I offer free access to students in Gaza and other conflict-affected areas. For many, this is their only chance to learn and grow during these incredibly difficult times.

🎯 My mission is twofold:

Empower youth through globally recognized project management skills.
Create a source of income to sustain myself and continue offering education for free.

Hi Ahmed,

I had the chance to explore your courses through the free preview videos—great job! Some of the lectures felt a bit long, but overall, the content and production quality were excellent, even though I don’t speak Arabic. I also noticed that in one of the courses, your voice isn’t included in the promotional video—it might be a nice touch to add that for a more personal connection.

On a different note, I hope you're doing well. More than anything, I sincerely hope this war comes to an end soon and that the region moves toward a peaceful and democratic future, free from the influence of violent extremist groups. I'm wishing for lasting peace in the Middle East and throughout the world.

I’m currently living in Israel, and like all wars, this one feels especially heartbreaking and deeply depressing. I truly hope for a future where people of all backgrounds, be it Sunnis, Shiites, Alawites, Jews, Christians, Druze, and others, can live together in peace, dignity, and mutual respect.

I'm deeply honored by your thoughtful comments about my courses. Regarding your feedback on the lecture lengths and promotional video—you're absolutely right. Unfortunately, due to the extremely difficult conditions we face here (power outages, displacement, and lack of equipment), I was unable to polish everything as I had hoped. Still, I remain committed to improving the content when the situation allows.

Your message gives me hope. Like you, I dream of a world where all people—regardless of background or belief—live together in peace, dignity, and mutual respect.

My father and grandfather both worked in Israel, and those were good days for them, providing a stable income and respectful relationships with their employers. Many in Gaza have had similar positive experiences, which reflects a simple truth: most people just want to live in peace.

I hope you will continue to use your voice and influence to advocate for an end to this war. Before we lose everything—and everyone—we love. I have lost many family members and almost everything I had, but I still hold on to hope.
