Dealing with Racism

Hi,

How does Udemy typically handle cases where instructors post antisemitic remarks on another instructor’s profile?

I recently received a message on my wall from another instructor that included language such as “Zionist Jew,” along with other offensive and inappropriate comments.

I've already reported the incident to Support and trust it will be addressed appropriately. That said, the nature and tone of the message were troubling and may indicate behavior that is unstable or well outside the bounds of acceptable community conduct. From my perspective, this behavior goes well beyond a simple violation of community guidelines and may warrant evaluation or intervention by a mental health professional.

Best,
Ron

    Hi Ron,

Thank you for your post, and I’m truly sorry you had to experience this behavior. We want to be clear that there is absolutely no place for racism, antisemitism, or any form of hateful or abusive behavior, whether in the community or on the platform.
This kind of conduct goes against everything we stand for, and we take it very seriously.

The instructor you're referring to has been removed from the community space, and the situation has been escalated to our internal policy team for further review so they can take any appropriate next steps. I also appreciate you reporting the message to Support, that was absolutely the right step to take.

On behalf of the team, I want to sincerely apologize for the harm and discomfort this caused. If there’s anything more we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your safety and well-being matter to us.

    Hi @MarinaT and @TheHussar

Thanks! I went ahead and reported the issue, and it looks like it's been addressed. I felt it was more constructive to report it rather than risk responding emotionally or unprofessionally.
