Hey there instructors,
Many of you have asked in our instructor workshops about accommodating diverse learning preferences. We know from our research that Udemy students come to the platform with different preferred ways of absorbing information. Creating multi-modal learning experiences can help ensure all students can engage effectively with your content.
How do you balance visual, auditory, and hands-on elements in your course design to accommodate different learning preferences?
We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!
@MarinaT , Indeed an interesting topic for discussion. Thankyou.
As a lifelong learner, I’ve found that my ability to understand and retain information has been significantly enhanced by a few key elements: clearly readable on-screen text, explanations in simple and relatable language, relevant examples, and most importantly, eye contact and connection with the instructor. These elements have helped me engage more deeply and absorb content more effectively.
As an instructor, I strive to bring the same approach to my teaching—focusing on clarity, simplicity, and human presence to foster better learning outcomes for my students.
Recently, I’ve noticed a growing trend toward the use of AI-generated videos and voiceovers to produce highly polished, visually engaging content. While I appreciate the technological advancements and the efficiency they offer, I remain uncertain about how effective these tools are in truly transmitting knowledge and fostering long-term retention.
At this stage, I prefer to continue with a more human-centric approach that emphasizes connection, clarity, and personal engagement.
