What you think about my video production?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on my first Udemy course, and I’d love to get your feedback.I’ve created the video using Canva and tried to keep it clear, structured, and engaging—but since this is my first time, I’m really looking to learn and improve.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on:

Content clarity and flow
Editing style and pacing
Video quality (visuals, transitions, etc.)
Audio quality and delivery

I thought the quality was very good. The music seemed a little loud but you speak clear and loud enough to be heard so I’d say it’s fine.

I'm not your market and I am sure other Instructors will disagree with my points below.

However….avoiding the temptation to be polite and tactful….I think it's better to give me initial reaction

1. Lack of a Clear "Hook" (0:03–0:14)

The intro did not (for me) grab my immediate attention. It seemed ordinary rather than dynamic.

2. Overuse of Generic Statements (0:03–0:22)

Non-specific. Phrases like "first line of defence" and "safety, order, and guest trust" are broad and lack specificity. I want an actionable benefit such as ‘clear bottlenecks’.

3. Curriculum Overview Feels Dense (0:28–0:58)

Topics are listed – so what? I want to know how this benefits ME.

4. Instructor Credentials Need a Stronger Business Tie (1:07–1:23)

So far nothing different, impressive or…human. The instructor’s experience is impressive but too short as in time on the video. He’s managed 60 events- so how has that or how does that benefit businesses…my business.

5. Benefits Are Vague (1:30–1:45)

Statements like "communicate effectively under pressure" and "recognize risk before they escalate" are undeveloped. By recognising risk this has an estimated/possible saving of…………

6. Call-to-Action Is Missing (1:50–2:04)

So – what’s the next step? Where’s the CTA?

7. Tone and Pacing

Maybe too academic.

8. Visual and Emotional Impact - I felt no emotion coming from the video it just seemed like so many others. Why not have the Instructor presenting it? Is the voice really his?

9. Audience Targeting Could Be Clearer

Who is this for ? Event organizers, venue managers, or security companies?

10. 0.21 – several lines, no bullets, each line starting with a capital letter. Seemed merely to be a space filler.

11. Even though the Instructor is introduced it all felt too automated, non-human, general, unexciting…..

The video quality is good, but I'd ensure the b-roll footage you use fits the scope of the video, and isn't just added to reduce how often the lecture material is shown. The video and audio do seem a bit impersonal, where you don't even mention your name, glossing over your credentials in ~5 seconds, and refer to yourself in third person.

I also find the voice and music too calming, which makes me feel like I could fall asleep. I'd recommend having a more energetic voice as you're presenting, and replacing such calming music. If this is a promo video, it'd be beneficial to show yourself on camera too, so the student can connect with you in a more personal way.

I'd recommend at least a little footage of yourself speaking, maybe at the end just welcoming students into the course. The main thing I'm left wondering while watching is whether the voice narrating the promo video is the instructor or somebody/something else, and what the actual course is like compared to the promo.

Just a little clip like "Hi, I'm your instructor Ariya… can't wait for you to get started" or something. Unless the promo video really is indicative of the style of the entire course.

Hi Lawrence,Thanks a lot for your feedback.Unfortunately, the background music was suggested by YouTube and I’m unable to remove it from the current version.However, in the actual course videos, there is no music at all — the narration is clean and professionally recorded.I truly appreciate your input.

It's all there as a template! What I would personally do is replace the AI voice by your voice, that voice has been way over used! More actual real footage and put yourself in front of the camera. As it is it's not personal and students cannot connect! But like I said it's all there just replace everything so it's organic and personal!
