Reporting a User

Hello, I recently posted a course and invited instructors to access it for free. I was looking forward to feedback. One individual has been an absolute menace (calling me a married, old lecturer cow). I am deleting my instructor account and looking elsewhere to share ideas. My questions are:

Is this normal on Udemy?
How do I report such an individual?

That is absolutely not normal. Click on the flag on the upper right corner. And, email policy@udemy.com. That is an extreme violation of the rules and I am shocked that another instructor would make such an outrageous comment. I am sorry you had to receive that.

@Dr_Becky Maybe he is desperate, so he is trying to threaten you in order not to report him. Do not listen to any more comments from him. and just wait for an action from the trust and safety team.

Please do not delete your instructor's account; by doing this, you are achieving the goal behind this instructor's or student's comment.

You may find some instructors or students that do not have some manners and insult you or do any unethical actions just to stop you from teaching here, so do not give up for such acts.

Report this person from the conversation or the reviews to the trust and safety team.

He also claims he will be taking over as CEO of Udemy if anything happens to the current CEO. He is full of bluster, I know, but this does get scary.

You can easily report the student. Right next to the review or comment. Udemy has some rules about reporting reviews. In this case I'm sure Udemy will remove the comments or review.

Bad reviews do exist on Udemy but the behavior you described is unheard of .

Well, I was once called a prostitute because my voice was "so soft". Definitely not normal (the only incident this outrageous in 4 years), but I can relate to how you're feeling. Usually, these kinds of reviews come from aggressive misogynists with no manners or values and are not worth a fraction of our valuable time. As has already been pointed out, a report to the policy team via the little flag above the review itself is the right thing to do. There's also many instructors who don't even read their reviews anymore or filter them carefully when they read them. I've become one of them.
