I just created a new course and would like to experience it as a student. Is it okay to take my own course as a student?
Thank you!
Hi,
Many screens have a "Preview as student" option, but I'm not sure how reliable that is. For example, as Instructor I get subtitles in many languages, but students don't get those options. If I preview as student I also have (for example) Spanish captions available, but students don't have that.
Someone from Udemy may comment that I'm doing something wrong (I hope they do), but in my experience the only reliable way to get the full student experience is to create another account and use that to access your course as a student. You'll need another email address, which is easy if you have your own domain, otherwise create a new free email account (e.g. gmail).
Thank you for this information, it's very insightful.
Hi @Shales, Thanks for your question! You do have the option to preview your course as a student and as an instructor. You will find more information about how to do this here.
Hello @Jean-Paul,
Thanks for sharing some tips with @Shares ! Previewing a course should provide the same content experience for both students and instructors, including captions, whether the course is published or unpublished.
Please note that auto-generated captions become available only after a course reaches 20 enrollments. This means that for unpublished courses, this option won’t be accessible and therefore won’t appear in the course preview.
If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out to our Instructor Support team by visiting this article and clicking the Contact Us button at the bottom right.
I hope you find this information helpful!
Hello:
I have another question for you. Is it okay to convert my coupon links to scan QR codes?
If you really want to experience your new course as a student, don't watch it.
