How do I know if there would be demand if there are no other similar courses?

Hi, I am a total newbie, so please excuse me if this has been asked a thousand times! I teach in-person workshops, block printing to be precise, and I don't see any on Udemy so far, nor related subjects such as lino printing - I am very surprised not to see lino printing. How would I know if there would be any demand? Or is there no way of knowing?

I created two courses in completely different topics where there were no similar courses on Udemy. One of them performed very well, while the other didn’t gain much traction at all. So even when there’s no competition, it can go either way.

You have do your research beyond Udemy. Udemy itself (for research to understand the market/demand) is not enough to launch a new course. Go beyond Udemy and find those market places where the courses are hosted.

You will also have to look into key word search, try ubersuggest, answerthepublic and many others to do your research.

Then come back to Udemy and launch a course on what is being searched more OR what is in demand (if any course/class you find). If you are launching for the first time, you will have to take the chance by publishing a course (based on your research).

It might perform well OR not, only time will tell.
