Hi everyone,
I just published my first course, AI for Engineers. It teaches practicing engineers how to use AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to speed up real work: calculations, technical reports, code for data analysis, and design reviews. No programming background needed.
I'm at single-digit enrollments, and I'd rather fix the foundation now than push traffic to a weak page. Three questions for experienced instructors:
- Positioning: "AI for Engineers" covers a lot of ground. Would a narrower title, such as "AI for Mechanical Engineers" or "AI for Engineering Reports", convert better? Has narrowing worked for you?
- First reviews: Did free coupons to a targeted group get you honest reviews faster than discounted paid coupons?
- External traffic: For a professional audience, did LinkedIn outperform YouTube for your first 100 students?
What I'm testing this month: sharing short "AI did this engineering task in 5 minutes" demos on LinkedIn, and reaching out to engineering groups and alumni networks.
I'll report back with numbers so other first-timers can learn from it.
