Let me know how it goes. Thats a fab deadline!

  • Mark,

Was your first course the most challenging?

I am uncertain about videos. How long did it take you until you were satisfied with yours?

    Any advice for a beginner?

  • Going to.release my.first tutorial,let's go

  • I just started my course structure. It's a challenge. To be concise and direct as well as making it exciting.

Asking myself today, "if I was interested in a course such as myself me, what would I be excited to learn?

Going to be bouncing questions off of people.

  • Congrats to all those submitting their first courses, and good luck!

We're working on being consistent with our promos and announcements and reaching out to our students this month. We're also working on addressing student feedback and fixing any video errors quickly, so our students know we're listening.

  • How is it going, Lizzy. I submitted my first course on 10.23.19. I am challenged now to figure out how to market the course. Perhaps I will start with my twitter followers. How has marketing gone for you?

  • Hello Mark, Congratulations!

So, you did not marketing for your new course at all and hit $1,000 in a month? Fantastic! What an inspiration! Thanks for sharing.

  • Inez, yes. I mean, it took a long time to hit $1,000 in a month (I published in Nov 2017), but it's slowly grown over time. My first month was something like $190 and it stayed around that for a while then, for no clear reason, it jumped up to about $400, then after another period, to around $700, and now it's jumped again. Long may this pattern continue - lol!

I wish I understood how it all works, but as long as the numbers keep going up, it's a case of 'In Udemy I trust!'

  • David,

So far it's my first and ONLY course! So yes, it was definitely the most challenging.

For me, this is purely a hobby. I have a demanding job and I enjoy spending time with my family far more than I enjoy spending yet more time on a computer, so it took me ages to produce my first course. Like, probably about a year!

However, because I was not in a rush, I always focussed on putting together as high quality a course as I could with the resources I had available. The first time round I only had borrowed equipment and free software (iMove). However, for my next course, I've been able to buy some good kit (camera, mic, lights, etc) as well as a decent computer and software - all from the proceeds of my first course. So in my mind, they were free!

I think if you have a good product, then Udemy can sell it. If you don't, they can't. So my mantra going ahead is quality, quality, quality.

    Hope that helps,

    Mark

  • Congrats Mark

  • Have you seen some revenue?

  • I'm about halfway through making my very first course :smileyvery-happy: November is almost here and I really want to get it published before the holidays!

At work I'm proposing an invention that will make the next generation of wireless communication (5G) work faster with a large array of antennae. I'm going to write a whitepaper draft, but that's not due till the end of November.

October is almost over! How are you all doing against your goals?

  • Hello,

I spent a lot of time updating one of my courses to hopefully make the best that I could do for the parameters I set out for the course. Initially, the course was only 1 hour long and now it is 2.5 hours long but I predict that it will grow to four hours or more because I see the weaknesses of how it was initially released and I want to make up for that.

So, that has been where most of my attention has been spent. Although I am still planning on releasing a new course I just feel it necessary to tweak a course that was already out to be a better use of my time.

    Thank you
