Hello everyone! I am a newly qualified English Language and Literature Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 5), and I am currently in the process of building my very first course here on Udemy.
My goal is to take a deep dive into "Character Linguistics." Instead of teaching standard creative writing, I want to show students how to use the "DNA of Language" to manipulate reader perception.
What I’m working on:
I’ve developed a module called "The Hero/Villain Flip." It challenges learners to take a heroic passage and, using only linguistic shifts—like changing active verbs to passive ones or swapping warm lexical sets for cold, plosive-heavy descriptions—transform that character into a villain without altering the plot.
As a first-time creator, I’d love your advice on:
Scope: Is a deep dive into linguistics too "niche" for a general audience, or do you think students crave this level of technical detail?
Engagement: How do you effectively transition "classroom-style" activities (like the ones I used as an HLTA) into a self-paced video format?
I’m thrilled to be starting this journey and look forward to learning from all of you!
