My first course will consist of animations explaining the content to users. Will this be effective? Or should I video myself speaking to users? In your opinion, how important is it to have a live person narrating the course?

I taken 40-50 courses, where in web development the importance has been to allow users to see and follow along with writing of code. A bad example is making things to small or diverting focus. Users are here to learn, they wish to get knowledge and be able to perform the task themselves. How to go ahead of explaining animation is based on preference, familiar styles and your own creative ideas into a suitable video format.
Do a video format that yourself can look back at and feel . Your Course provides educational and useful information - that people can learn step by step .
