Hi, just checking if anyone has try to clone their voice to AI text to speech for course delivery?

    No. They sound ok, but nevertheless, it is a bad idea. It eats away from the authenticity, which is one of the main reasons people buy from udemy.

    It’s easier for me to speak and record than figure out how to automate things. My material is my own and a lot comes out when I teach that I wasn’t planning on saying. It fits in the slide. Maybe boring if an ai voice reads material that sounds like me. Also is disingenuous feeling.

    No, not for an entire course because it's against Udemy policy.
    "At this time, we do not permit the usage of text-to-speech software as a substitute for direct teaching by a live instructor. Students want to hear directly from you to build trust. While text-to-speech cannot be used for an entire course, a high-quality AI voiceover program can be used to make course edits and smaller additions following publication."

    However, I use Descript for video editing, and I've trained it to learn my voice, so for minor edits, such as misstating a word or two, I can use AI to fix it. It overdubs those words with my AI-generated voice. It's not perfect, but it's better than having to re-record small audio clips as part of the editing process. There are several other instructors that are active in the Instructor community, that also use Descript, and the AI overdub feature as part of their editing process.
