Hey there instructors,

On May 5th, we had the pleasure of having an AMA-style webinar with one of the top instructors @Chris_Haroun
.

Here’s a small background of Chris and his experience with teaching on Udemy.

Chris Haroun is an award-winning business professor and has been teaching business and finance courses on Udemy since 2015. He has more than 1.3 million students and 70 courses. Chris has work experience at Goldman Sachs, in the venture capital and hedge fund sector where he worked at Citadel, and in the consulting sector at Accenture where he was a programmer. He has started many companies and has sat on many boards in venture capital. He has managed more than $1 billion dollars in his career and has an MBA in finance from Columbia University.

Here’s a brief summary of the webinar below.

In the webinar, Chris Haroun discusses different ways to promote courses, starting with sending promotional emails to existing students, which can be done twice a month with coupons that have a sense of urgency and include emojis to help with open rates. He also suggests publishing promotional videos on different social networking channels, such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Twitter. He recommends not sending the same video to all channels at the same time and suggests that it's important to have repeated exposure to create interest in a product. Finally, he advises spending a significant amount of revenue on creating social media content to achieve better results and focus on production.

Chris Haroun emphasizes the importance of having a personal brand, especially when it comes to selling courses. He uses Coca-Cola as an example of a brand that transcends generations and elicits emotions. He advises that in order to stay relevant, individuals need to be ready to change and adapt to new social media platforms and stay up-to-date with what Gary V's website is using.

To establish oneself as a brand, Chris suggests giving opinions frequently on social media, writing articles and books for free, and using LinkedIn as the primary platform to publish articles. He shares his own experience of writing one article every week for two years on LinkedIn, which eventually led to him self-publishing a book that contained his most popular articles. He concludes by stating that personal branding is a long-term game that requires persistence and consistency.

We then open the floor to open Q&A within the Webinar and we answered more questions than any other previous webinar! We highly recommend that you tune into the replay to see what was talked about!
