Video controls don't disappear when playing
Hello,
There are 2 days now, that the video controls don't disappear, so that i can see the full video without covering parts of it. I have tried everything , like cleaning cookies, viewing in icognito mode, trying all possible browsers, and different PCs. But the problem remains.
Could you please advise what is the issue and how it can be resolved?

I cannot wait until this issue is fixed. One of the most annoying bugs I've ever had to deal with. Never experienced something like this with any other video player before in my entire life.

@ElianaC Although the support bot is helpful, in many cases is not intuitive or straight forward what to do and end up in a ticket. An easy to access "Contact us" is not obvious as well.
Also, i understand, that many people do not have access to this forum and the cases should be much more (if not all). Obviously it is a bug and the most annoying of all.
Please, follow up for the fix of this one as a prioritization, on behalf of us.
Thank you

I'm having the same issue.
I've already created a ticket, please fix it, it's not only covering the video content but also applying a vignette effect making the borders darker, which is very annoying.3 -
Having the same issue. Submitted a ticket and tried all troubleshooting steps and 4 different browsers and 3 different OS's nothing helps. And I am paying money for this?!

I discover something… Seens working in mobile version.
In Chrome, using inspect (right click on page and select inspect), network tab, set "Disable cache" to reload js files.
Then set device toolbar (CTRL + SHIFT + M) to see like mobile.
Then press F5/Reload website. Control bar will change and then work ("moblie" version?):
Can't use 10 seconds options, but controls are hiding.

Is there an ETA on a fix? The site could be considered down for many people, any content where the instructor is using a command line is now unviewable. It's not just the controls, the black shadow at the bottom of them covers over everything.

Same issue here.
This bug is so annoying!!!
Pls fix it asap2 -
In case someone reads this:
Another "work-around" is to zoom out as much as possible, that makes that the progress bar and faded-out title don't overlay the video! :-)
Granted, you will not be able to read anything aside from the video, but at least, nothing of the video screen is covered! :-)(I have a 34" curved screen(3440 x 1440), so my udemy window is 50% of my monitor)

The only way to remove the progress bar on Udemy videos on desktop is to pop out the video with your browser's media button (on Brave Browser, it looks like 2 musical notes).
On the popped out video, you can then full screen it, and the progress bar disappears. Not great, but it stops you all from going insane.
I'm glad I'm not the only one going crazy seeing the progress bar covering up the videos that I paid loads of money to see.
Only removing this bug will save the Udemy stock price from plunging further!

This is seriously getting ridiculous. Video playback is Udemy's most basic function, and it's been broken for almost 2 weeks now.
Someone on reddit posted a plugin that claims to fix the video player bugs:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Udemy/comments/1h24mks/i_had_to_create_a_plugin_to_fix_all_the_bugs_due/

I agree, @FrankKane and the author of the plugin posted it here in another thread this morning:
https://community.udemy.com/en/discussion/158721/video-playback-issue-progress-bar-doesnt-hide#latest
Udemy students have been flooding the instructor community in Studio U complaining about this issue, as well as on the Udemy subreddit, but no fix has been deployed or acknowledgement of the issue on Udemy's status page.2 -
Hi everyone,
We sincerely apologize for the ongoing issue with the video viewing bug. We understand how crucial it is for the video player to function properly to ensure the best possible learning experience.
Please rest assured that our engineering team is working diligently to resolve it, and we will provide an update here in the community as soon as the issue is fixed.
Thank you for your continued patience.

@MarinaT, thanks for sharing that. Unfortunately, I think that's an issue, with bugs now typically taking 3 to 4+ weeks to resolve, on average. Reading the Udemy sub-reddit posts and trust pilot reviews, as well as all of the student posts that are now coming here, students are becoming overwhelming frustrated, especially now that their customer support is an AI chatbot that many find difficult and burdensome to use.
