🔥 Marathon YouTube Live Session With Top Instructors On Saturday, June 14 at 11am US Eastern 🔥

User: "AlexGenadinik"
Updated by MarinaT

This will be a one of a kind event where I'll plan to have a marathon session where we'll discuss every topic relevant to instructors without time constrain, so we can have an incredibly rich discussion.

Link to the event https://youtube.com/live/oD8dYvzq8N8?feature=share

Agenda:

  • First 30-45 minutes is a tutorial for beginners. We'll discuss Udemy marketing basics and how to become a better instructor, and delight students.
  • Next 30-45 minutes we'll do a Q&A session where I'll answer any questions people have
  • After that, I'll have popular instructors jump on and off to discuss and debate any topics related to Udemy

Note: I am planning to organize an event where many popular instructors can jump on and off, but I can't guarantee the attendance of any specific instructor

If this succeeds, we can make this a monthly thing.

TO JOIN THE PANEL: If you'd like to talk on the panel, please comment on this thread, and I'll send instructions for doing that.

For some reason there are no buttons or options to subscribe for this event 🤔

Here is what I see when clicking the link on mobile phone:

    @SergeyK

Thanks for letting me know - when I went there I got something else. But it was because I was logged in as me. I switched the video from private to unlisted now. So it should let you click the "notify me" button…I hope LOL.

@AlexGenadinik It's working now! Thanks, it looks promising ;-)

@Boris035 thank you - I'll do my best to make it good.

If I can make it a helpful event, I'd love to make this a monthly a quarterly thing. As a community, we can use a lot more networking and open brainstorming opportunities. Hope to see you there. :)

@MarinaT Thank you Marina, I am excited about it. It will give all of us a chance to brainstorm and network in a new and unconstrained way - I am open to running the livestream for a number of hours. If there is a way to get the word out to instructor community beyond this post, it would also be really helpful :)

    Hi @AlexGenadinik,

I updated the headline to help draw more attention to your post 😊. I’d also suggest sharing it in our International communities (Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French), with a note that the webinar will be held in English.
My team can help translate the post, tag you, and publish it in each community. Would that be okay with you?

I’ve also boosted your post so it now appears as “new” to all community members.

@MarinaT thank you for doing all those things :)

Btw, how do I navigate to the international communities here? I never posted there and I don't see it in my menu.

@MarinaT Also, as I browse the different English-speaking communities like "published instructors" —> course creation and similar ones, this post is not seen in the list of those posts. Is it ok to repost it in all the different forums like also marketing, course management, etc - so that it can get more exposure since we'll be talking about all that?

    Hi @AlexGenadinik,

You’re very welcome 😊. You should see a language button at the top of the community page next to the magnifier that will take you to our international communities.

It looks like we're currently experiencing a technical issue with our international communities 👀. We will look into that!

@MarinaT I see that you are posting the link to the livestream. Is it ok for me to also post that post in other English-speaking forums like course creation and marketing and similar related ones?

Alex, this is a good idea and I would love to attend but I will be traveling. I would like to hear how it goes.

@LawrenceMMiller Thanks for the support :) There will be a replay available that I'll leave up indefinitely. It's going to be the first time doing this, so hopefully it goes well, and if it does I'll do another one in a month or so.

If you can't find the link for the replay, just message me and I'll send you the link.

    Hi @AlexGenadinik ,

Thank you for the initiative to help us with Marketing and Course Creation skills through your YouTube Live session.

I think the idea was/is great, and I hope your Pilot Project will transition into regular sessions (once a month or so) as planned. After all, you have just mastered the tech side of live broadcasting, so keep going ;-)

    What I liked:

    • It’s nice to learn who other instructors are, what their background stories are, and how they operate (e.g., I didn’t know Anton has had so strong footprint in the Ukrainian education market – I always wondered how he is able to produce so many courses that fast. I’m glad I learned more about Scott and Steve as well – for us who joined Udemy in the post-COVID era, we don’t know much about them, except noticing how successful they are.
    • It’s useful to hear how they understand Udemy’s strategy and how things might have moved forward (Scott Duffy had some very useful insights).

I suppose that (as you progress) you’ll move towards more structured sessions, and up-front agreed participants and agenda. Yet, I would like you to keep those “sections” if possible.

Basically, I support your efforts – I think that’s important for all of us. After all, even if we learn “only” a thing or two – that’s fine, as long as it is inspiring and motivates us to keep going forward.

    Cheers!

    Boris

P.S. I suppose you’ll “trim & cut” parts of the video where you struggled with tech issues in order not to force others to run away from the session too early ;-)

And, if it’s easier for you, it does not have to be a live session at all (you can record it, edit, and post when ready) – just a suggestion.

@Boris035 Thank you for the support :)

I guess the place to start is 9:09 to 25:41 and then skip to and after 58:51 :)

YouTube doesn't seem to let me cut the live version of the video without making a new one, and many people have the original link only. So I'll leave the original one up.

Next time, I'll be much more organized and hopefully with fewer technical issues.

For anyone curious, the link will be left up: https://www.youtube.com/live/oD8dYvzq8N8

To skip parts when we had technical issues, start at 9:09 to 25:41 and then skip to 58:51 and after that watch until the end :)

If anyone would like to join me on the live call next time: (maybe in a week or two or maybe in a month - this was actually fun). Please let me know by commenting here.

cc @LawrenceMMiller and @SergeyK in case you wanted to still catch it.

ps - @MarinaT thank you for helping me get the word out :)

    Thank you @AlexGenadinik 🙏🏼

I was actually able to watch most of it when it was live 🙂. Then watched a replay to catch up with the rest of the conversation.
