It's up to you. Udemy doesn't do it for you.

Simply putting a copyright notice on your videos and slides is a start and much better than nothing. Getting a registered copyright on a video course can be tricky, as you have to provide copies of the videos to the copyright office somehow. But an attorney that specializes in intellectual property can help if you want the most protection you can get. It will cost money though.

If you are creating courses on Udemy, you (the creator) automatically own the copyright to your original content under Indian law and most international copyright laws. Udemy does not register copyright on your behalf.

However, if you want legal proof of ownership, especially in case of disputes or infringement, it's recommended to register your work with the Copyright Office in your country (e.g., in India, at copyright.gov.in).

    In short:

    • You own the copyright by default.
    • Registration is not mandatory but gives legal strength.
    • Udemy does not do it for you.

It is advisable to consult IPR Specialists or Experts (e.g. Setindiabiz) and ensure protection of your creative work!
