As part of ongoing efforts to help students find and enroll in courses, we're making some updates to our course classification system.

Despite all the challenges of this year, incredible instructors like you came together to help new students everywhere succeed through online learning. Our team has been hard at work to ensure we support the entire community and keep the Udemy platform up and running during record-setting traffic and enrollment spikes. 

To keep you informed, we wanted to take a moment to review some of the new features, tools, and products developed in 2020.

Over the last two months, we built a new refund platform that allows us to better set student expectations and identify refund abuse. 

Initial Udemy for Business earnings calculations for September have completed and are in the process of posting to instructor revenue reports. However, secondary effects to yesterday's site instability caused a delay in calculating the exact withholding tax for each instructor. As a result, your withholding estimate for September currently includes the maximum possible withholding for your Udemy for Business earnings.

Hi everyone - Starting at 08:30a.m. PDT on October 6, Udemy.com and Udemy for Business experienced a few episodes of site instability causing performance issues for our users. The site is stable as of 04:30a.m. PDT on October 7, and we continue to monitor the situation.

As we continue to build new kinds of partnerships to introduce new learners to Udemy, we've created new documentation to clarify how instructors earn revenue from enrollments facilitated by resellers. 

During the State of Udemy this past May, we shared that we’re working on improving the refund system in 2020. Throughout the coming months, we’ll be releasing a series of experiments and updates to our existing refund system.

Hi Instructors - We have reenabled the welcome and congratulations messages for free and paid courses on the marketplace and Udemy for Business. These messages were previously turned off due to the unprecendeted surge in traffic and enrollments our site experienced earlier this year.

We know that it can be hard to find the right time to learn. That’s why we’ve created learning reminders, a new mobile app feature that allows students to set reminders at the frequency and time of day they are most likely to learn.

Hi Instructors! Udemy will be going through site maintenance tomorrow, July 17 from 4-6am Pacific Time. The website (udemy.com) and all related sites will be down or running slowly during this time, so we recommend holding off on publishing any new courses or making edits during this time.

Hands-on practice is important, and not just for students in developer courses — data science students need it too. So we’re improving coding exercises by adding SQL, R, NumPy, SciKit-Learn, and Pandas — along with Swift 5, and React 16 — to the list of supported languages, frameworks, and libraries.

We’re excited to announce that we released a new note-taking experience for your students today that will be replacing the bookmarks feature.
