Why is it much better in written format?Udemy is a video medium and students expect a video, not just a bunch of written words. Study best selling courses. They are not only video, but they are compelling video. I do not think your course will sell on Udemy if it is simply written documents.

You do need to be more specific. In my opinion, the term "learning strategies" is almost meaningless. Learning strategies for corporate trainers? For college students? For elementary school students? It matters. What do you think potential students are really looking for? What are you really expert in? Looking at your profile I don't see evidence of expertise in educational psychology or educational technology. You say "I am interested in big data, automation, tech, science, health. " I am interested in those things also, but I am not expert in them and would not attempt to teach them. What is your real expertise and experience? Teach a subject that you have both expertise and enthusiasm to teach. Focus! (I think that is your word.)

I teach Finance. It requires finding one client and making them so happy that the other opportunities follow. And there are huge differences among Universities. I was speaking to someone from a top school who said, I kid you not, "we put our videos on VImeo." I am thinking to myself "elearning amateur." So yes there are lots of opportunities. I am planning to release a course titled "Teaching College and University Courses Online". I concur with @LawrenceMMiller you should publish your Elearning course first. You can use that to get Consulting Opportunities

Luck has little or nothing to do with it. The recipe for success, in any business, including udemy, is to have a precise strategy in mind. In the case of Udemy you need to be familiar with the niche to which you are taking your courses, in order to understand exactly what your potential students need. Another important factor is the mastery of one's niche. Students understand if a teacher is prepared or not compared to what he then teaches. Last element is an efficient promotion strategy, which aims to enhance all that I have written above. You need to find ways to advertise your content, so you can get in touch with as many students as possible. Luck can only be a little help if you're not prepared, but compared to a trained teacher, a lucky one has no chance of success 🙂

Yes, but... LindedIn Learning develops exclusive content and you can't just decide to publish there. In the future, if Udemy for Business markets your course you will have to give them exclusivity.

Brian, I am 73... no excuse! A couple suggestions. First, get a real camera on a tripod, stand up, and look at the camera imagining that the lens is a real student and just talk to them. Don't try to follow a script! You're not an actor. Each time you turn on the camera have just two or three points you want to make and discuss those as if you were speaking directly to a student. Then turn off the camera and decide on the next two or three points. Repeat. If you screw up, it is ok. You are going to make it all good and make it flow in editing. Movies are made in small bites of a minute or two, then edited together. You will get comfortable with this. Just keep trying and repeating.

MS Word is not the ideal tool for creating videos. 1. Landscape... always! The human eye sees in landscape which is why every television or computer screen... its obvious. 2. 1080p 3. Use PPT. Please don't develop a course unless you have carefully studied the best selling and highest rated courses in your category. Otherwise, you are wasting your time.

Lori, I am confident that 98% of instructors are amateurs at video production. All of my courses are talking head videos, but with graphics to one side of me. Take a look at the previews to my New Manager or my most recent Consultative Selling Skills courses. They are selling well and getting pretty good ratings. There is no question that there are several learning curves for most of us. One is the video production and you will find lots of discussion of how to use good lighting, editing, etc. here. The other learning curve is the marketing side. You can trust that most of us started with little or no knowledge about both of these. Consider this the challenge, the game, the fun part of this endeavor. You can do it.

Absolutely, do it! Moroccan cooking should be popular. Moroccan food has a great reputation. If you can develop your course with high quality visuals it will work best. Please study other cooking courses for inspiration and examples. I particularly like Eleanor Hoh's course on wok cooking. Let me ask you this. If you are listening to a great public speaker, are they sitting or standing? Did you have a professor in college who delivered her lectures while sitting? I know that delivering an online course is not exactly the same thing. But, standing projects energy, standing generates energy within yourself. Sitting is more relaxed, but relaxed also equals less energy. I disagree with the idea of "do what is natural for you." What is natural for some people is to have terrible speaking habits and poor delivery. No... we have to work at being better than what is "natural." Good public speaking and delivery habits are only natural when they have been well trained, practiced and reinforced. I recommend Alex Fischer's course on Confidence on Camera. Of course, it also matters what your subject is.

Create AMAZING online course in 7 days as an online business Step by step practical steps on how to create online course in 7 DAYS without being on CAMERA for passive income I think someone needs to say this... the premise is false. Neither you, nor your students, will create AMAZING online coures in 7 days... without being on camera and generating passive income. Your title is promoting a "get rich quick" mentality that has proven NOT to work on Udemy. If you want to be successful you need to become expert in your topic, you need to develop high quality videos, and that generally includes some amount of on camera presence, and the income is not passive. Those who are succeeding are very active, not passive. Good luck.
