Hi @Nestor.Adrianzen, I agree with Thor. My first sale was in the same month, but may be after many days. I made $16 in that month. Next month was nothing. It picked up slowly and steadily.

You HAVE to have 10 minutes of previews, those are automatic. Once you hit that, you can chose which videos are for previews. I keep it around 10% of my course, enough for them to see the quality without giving the whole course away. Yes, full price sales happen, they are rare and most are refunded.

I talked to them, and they told me that a teenager can indeed create courses. As far as I understand, there is a verification process when you submit a course, and that's when they ask you for some information to confirm that you have the consent of your legal guardians. Thanks for the help!

It's an Apple thing. Udemy can't do anything about that. The court case Apple v. Epic Games is exactly about that.

Shannon, Udemy does not announce their sales, but... Thanksgiving is Nov 25th, so Black Friday is the 26th. BF sales often start a few days before Thanksgiving and go through the weekend. Then, there is "Cyber Monday" which has become a big sale and that had expanded into a several days beyond. My advice is don't worry about it. There isn't really anything for you to do other than make sure your course(s) are in good shape and do your own promotion to your own mail list, if you have one. good luck.

Thanks. It's just useful to know how the platform actually works - not at the price the creator specifies but at non-proportional, ultra-low pricing during sales. I guess, for me, Udemy will be better for generating leads, rather than making income. I already run a successful online course business from my own website, so I was just checking out a few platforms to see how many organic sales might be made from existing platform users.

I use my native language Turkish for my course and my problem is not much about linguistic, it is more about speaking to people. As I mentioned in another reply, I hesitate a lot between sentences. Sometimes this hesitate may sustains for a half hour or, I may forgot what was I going to say. For instance, I had tried to tell a property in programming language, and I forgot what was Turkish meaning of the word, like this one "Hold on what was Turkish of the Scroll bar? Am I forgetting my native language or something? What's wrong with me" My problem is not just about this thing, I can't express my mind clearly to my students. Even though, I am not using a camera on my videos, and just recording my presentation screen, my voice come out as nervous even I am not.

If the course is switched from free to paid and back to free (or vice versa) after the course is published, the promotional announcements for the course will be permanently disabled. Hi All! My August sales were far below what I would have expected. After the change of Udemy policy in May, I see a 30% drop in my revenues which is very upsetting. I am wondering if this is only my case or more instructors see the same pattern?

Wow, I'm not sure what is more frustrating - your audacity to exploit someone like this, or the fact that you actually found someone that quickly. I was about to report you to Udemy's trust & safety team because co-instructors are both supposed to bring something to the table in the production of the course. But either I mis-remembered that part of the policy, or it was changed. I take solace in the fact that if you are in fact paying someone $100/hr to create and market a 2 hour course in soft skills, that will probably run you about $15,000 or so, and you're unlikely to make that back. The instructor you hired may well get the better end of this deal (but I'd advise him to insist on an advance payment.) I get it, though. After seeing ACloudGuru get acquired for $2B a lot of us are wondering if we should be hiring a stable of instructors and building up our own large catalog of courses in hopes of getting acquired. Gotta remember they built up a catalog of thousands of labs and courses in the hottest topic there is though, and they did at a time when there was much less competition.

The suitability of breaking up your course would depend really depend upon the content itself and the amount of it. Students are known to comment when courses are unnaturally split. If simple terms, if it looks like something should be included which isn't an advanced principle or a next level as such and the course is only stretching throughout a few hours, it's worth considering inclusion. A solid, single, something longer course is often better than several smaller ones. If you've got a good amount of content and your 'staging' solidified in your mind, I would consider splitting, but disregard the idea of the single certificate since I can't figure how this would be possible. Those potential stages you may have in mind should be enough to warrant individual certificate titles. I think students would possibly be proud of the 4 certificates too (with those areas / stages stated on them) rather than a single certificate. I've always done what needs to be done for a level, then started on another fresh course for the next adding to both periodically.
