Hey there Instructors! 👋
It’s time to get to know your fellow instructors! We’ll be hosting a virtual coffee chat on Friday, October 7th at 1:00pm PT*, and you are invited!
What is a virtual coffee chat?
The community virtual coffee chats are hour-long informal networking sessions held via Zoom. During these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to network with and get to know other Udemy instructors worldwide.
How does it work?
October’s theme is Q4 and Black Friday preparation, so we will spend the first 30 minutes sharing best practices on what success for Black Friday looks like as an instructor. Then we will begin asking the group questions about anything related to Black Friday and succeeding in Q4!
How do I sign up?
Glad you asked! You can sign up right here .
We look forward to seeing you on Friday, October 7th at 1:00pm PT / 4:00pm ET!
*We understand that this time may not be ideal for all time zones, however, we will change the times of the coffee chat each month to accommodate different locations.

Course Creation Coffee Chat
On August 22nd we hosted our monthly coffee chat that focused on course creation and what instructors are doing to succeed in this subject.
Take a look at the topics we covered:
What are the top tools to help you create courses?
Microphone - Be sure to have a high-quality microphone when you are recording your course. One instructor mentioned utilizing the Blue Yeti Microphones for those who are just getting started. These microphones' price ranges between $50 - $200 depending on the quality.
Udemy Market Insights and Teaching Center - Utilize Udemy’s tools to help you identify in-demand courses and learn best practices for creating your courses!
Video editing software - Getting yourself a video editing program will help you sharpen your content and take it to the next level. Attendees recommended picking up the program Filmora .
Do you have any tips for streamlining your course creation process?
Constantly collect feedback - Always seek feedback from those around you such as your f riends, family, and especially your students . Learn more about what their thoughts are on the structure and adjust your course creation process.
Bring on a team member - Getting the help you need for tasks that you’re not comfortable with will give you more time to create high-quality content for your courses. The community members agreed that these are the types of people you should bring on to your team:
Support - General task assistance for course creation
Video editor - An individual to edit your content to make a cohesive and high-quality course.
Utilize Task Management Tools - Keep all your tasks in one place and organized with these two tools:
Asana - Asana helps you work on projects and keep details all in one place.
Trello - A program that helps you organize with the power of boards, cards, and lists to help you achieve your goals.
How do you come up with course ideas?
Gather feedback from students - Your students are your direct customer. Create content surrounding their needs to retain your audience.
Market research - Understand what the students are looking for in Udemy
Understand questions from students - If there are patterns in questions, consider expanding further in another course.

Over the years, we've heard repeated requests from those of you who teach programming courses to improve our coding exercises tool. We’re happy to tell you that we've prioritized improvements to coding exercises in the coming months so that you can create hands-on practice opportunities that encourage course engagement.
While we tackle some of the bigger opportunities, we wanted to let you know about some fixes and updates we’ve already made:
You can create coding exercises in Python 3.10 . This was a common request and we’re hoping you can take advantage of the new language immediately!
You can edit coding exercises after publishing them. Previously, you could only delete and recreate a published coding exercise. Now, you can simply unpublish it within the course, make your updates, and republish.
Learners can save time by copying text directly from the coding exercise descriptions and pasting into the activity portion of the exercise.
We’ll continue to keep you posted on the changes we make to coding exercises. Feel free to visit the How to Create a Coding Exercise article in the Help Center to learn more!

Hey there @Sandy_Walker!
Thank you for reaching out.
As Udemy has continued to grow, we've taken a careful look at the value of this service and decided to discontinue it. Given the size of Udemy's marketplace, the uniqueness of each course, and the logistics involved, it was determined this service is no longer feasible.
We feel confident that our course image guidelines make it simple and easy for instructors to create their own course images.
I hope this helps clarify this, and please let us know if you have any additional questions!
